He became a professor at Universit\u00e9 Laval&#8217;s \u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019am\u00e9nagement du territoire et de d\u00e9veloppement r\u00e9gional in 1996 following postdoctoral fellowships at the Facult\u00e9 des sciences de l\u2019agriculture et de l\u2019alimentation at Universit\u00e9 Laval (1994-95) and the Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research at the University of Colorado (Boulder, USA, 1995-96). He coordinates the PHRAGMITES team and the invasive plant training program, which offers continuing education in the control of nuisance plants, including common reed. He was hired as a professor at the D\u00e9partement des sciences biologiques of the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al in 2002 after several years as a research scientist at the Montreal Botanical Garden and at the Institut de recherche en biologie v\u00e9g\u00e9tale of the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al (1995-2002). He is in charge of competition research projects in the PHRAGMITES team.<\/p>\n<hr><\/p><div class=\"membre-personnel\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" class=\"photo-gauche\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/2018_Boivin.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"Patrick Boivin\" alt=\"Patrick Boivin\" \/><\/p><p class=\"nom-poste\"><strong>Patrick Boivin<\/strong><br>MSc (U. de Montr\u00e9al) <\/p><p><a href=\"mailto:patrick.boivin@umontreal.ca\">patrick.boivin@umontreal.ca<\/a> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Icone courriel\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phragmites.crad.ulaval.ca\/wp-content\/themes\/CRAD-Commun\/medias\/images\/icone_courriel.gif\" alt=\"Icone courriel\" width=\"14\" height=\"10\" \/><\/p><p class=\"spacer\">&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n<p style='margin-top:-25px;'><p>Patrick Boivin obtained a BSc degree in biology from the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (1990) and then pursued MScA studies at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al in land use planning (1994). Since the early 2000s, he has held a research professional position at the Institut de recherche en biologie v\u00e9g\u00e9tale of the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, where he participates in various studies on the management and integrated control of vegetation. He works with Jacques Brisson to develop various control strategies for exotic invasive plant species based on mechanical, chemical and plant competition methods. The knowledge acquired enables them to develop control plans to effectively manage exotic invasive plants.<\/p>\n<hr><\/p><div class=\"membre-personnel\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" class=\"photo-gauche\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/E_Groeneveld_3.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"Elisabeth Groeneveld\" alt=\"Elisabeth Groeneveld\" \/><\/p><p class=\"nom-poste\"><strong>Elisabeth Groeneveld<\/strong><br>MSc (U. In 2010 she joined Claude Lavoie\u2019s laboratory as a research professional after having worked for the Quebec Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks from 2001 to 2010. Within the framework of the PHRAGMITES project, she assists Claude Lavoie, helps graduate students both in the field and in the laboratory and is in charge of the annual survey of the spread of Phragmites colonies along the highways.<\/p>\n<hr><\/p><div class=\"membre-personnel\"><p style=\"margin: 0; padding: 0;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" class=\"photo-gauche\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Sam-Karathanos2.jpg\" border=\"0\" title=\"Sam Karathanos\" alt=\"Sam Karathanos\" \/><\/p><p class=\"nom-poste\"><strong>Sam Karathanos<\/strong><br>MSc (U. de Montr\u00e9al)<\/p><p><a href=\"mailto:sam.karathanos@umontreal.ca\">sam.karathanos@umontreal.ca<\/a> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Icone courriel\" src=\"https:\/\/www.phragmites.crad.ulaval.ca\/wp-content\/themes\/CRAD-Commun\/medias\/images\/icone_courriel.gif\" alt=\"Icone courriel\" width=\"14\" height=\"10\" \/><\/p><p class=\"spacer\">&nbsp;<\/p><\/div>\n<p style='margin-top:-25px;'><p>Sam Karathanos earned a D.E.S.S.S. specializing in biodiversity management and a M.Sc. degree in biological sciences at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al (2013, 2015). As part of his master&#8217;s project, he studied common reed control methods in former agricultural fields in the \u00celes-de-Boucherville national park.
